A Virtual Cemetery created by Pennsylvania Lady

August 24, 1965

When the Marines arrived in Vietnam in force a "rest and recuperation" program was established which permitted assigned Marines and sailors to take a few days' leave in various out-of-country locations - Hong Kong, Bangkok, the Philippines, and so on. On 25 Aug 1965 a KC-130 (BuNo 149802) belonging to VMGR-152 was scheduled to bring 65 passengers back from Hong Kong. As the aircraft took off from Kai Tak airport it veered off the runway, struck a sea wall, and crashed in Kowloon Bay. Twelve of the 71 men on board survived the crash; 59 did not.===============================================================The flag does not fly because of the wind that blows itThe flag flies because each soldiers' last breath that blows it!
