Lillie Bell Crew 6 Mar 1944 Plane crash

The Lillie Bell (42-52191), a B-24 Bomber, was lost in North Sea on return flight from a mission into Germany. Plane was badly damaged, lost fuel, and could not make it back to England. From a crew of ten, there was one survivor, bombardier Lt Gerald Joseph "Joe" Cyr of Old Town, ME, who gave a personal account of the ditching.These men served with the 735th Squadron of the 453rd Bomb Group. The home base was Old Buckenham Field, England
