The Hardigree/Huff Families of Southeastern KY.

The ancestors/descendants of David Hardigree & Margaret Peggy Asher and of John Huff & Mahala Begley of Southeastern KY. The Huff and Begley families are among the earliest pioneers in Southeastern Kentucky. David Hardigree was a Pvt in the 12th Georgia Light Artillery during the Civil War. After the battle of Big Hill, KY in 1862 he thought he saw brother Edwin in a wagon of dead/wounded and never saw him again. After being captured he joined the union army as Pvt Co K, 13th Regt, TN Vol. Cavalry. Since he had fought against Confederates, he never returned to his home state and settled in Kentucky.
