Cape Coral Fl. James William (Bill) Harney 81, formerly of Muncie, Indiana passed away on April 28, 2004. He was born on July 28, 1922 in Elwood Indiana to Frank and Mary Van Horn Harney who preceded him in death, Bill attended Muncie Central H. S. Class of 1941.He served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII as Machinist Mate 2nd Class and received the Asiatic Pacific area Ribbon, American Area Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Medal. Bill retired from Chevrolet Muncie in 1982 and moved to Kosciusko Co. with his wife Clara and lived on Irish Lake until moving to Cape Coral in 1996. Bill was a life member of the American Legion, the D. A. V. The V. F. W. Veterans Club of American of Ft. Myers Bch, AmVets, Elks, Eagles, Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife Clara, three daughters, Judy Morton (Jerry) Cape Coral, Fl, Linda Jennings(Kenneth) Hartsville, Ohio and Jeanie Foster (Ray) Akron, Ohio four brothers Selby Muncie In. Roscoe Tennessee Clifford and Kenneth both of Witchita Falls, Texas five sisters Imogene Hurst (Frank) Thelma Belt,(Bill) Phyllis Akers(Gene) all of Muncie, In, Maxine Burke, Sharpsville, In and Doris Martin, Alexandria, In. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery with military rites by Veterans of Delaware Co.
