This is part of my personal project to honor the memory of veterans, in honor and memory of my father John C. Mahaffey, recipient of three Bronze Stars for service in the Army Air Forces in World War II, my Uncle James Mahaffey for service in China with the US Navy in World War II, for my Uncle Richard Mahaffey for service in the Air Force in Africa during World War II, for my stepfather Lloyd Wroten for service in the US Navy in the Pacific in World War II and for my Uncle Glenn Ray, for his service in the US Army in Korea. This is also in honor of my students, who have served in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bahrain, Africa and the Ukraine.
