Most of the remains from the City of Troy's Third Street Burial Ground (created in 1787) were reportedly moved to Oakwood Cemetery, Sec. N. Lot 102 around 1875 prior to the building of City Hall. City Hall burned suspiciously in 1938; part of its former footprint is now Barker Park.
There are 146 graves in the lot in Oakwood (and seemingly 41 unnumbered empty spaces), most occupied by only one burial but at least twelve hold the remains of two people and at least four hold the remains of three people, making for at least 165 interments total in the lot.
A fairly large double headstone was found in 1937 near or under Church Street for Sallie and Benjamin Wilbur, along with their remains. What became of their remains was not published as far as I've seen. Their headstone was reportedly initially hung on a church wall, then stored in the church, then mounted on a base placed in Barker Park around 1948. The base remains in 2015, but the headstone disappeared from it at some point.
That most of the graves of these early residents of Troy who died generally between the 1780s and 1820s now lack visible markers is regrettable, to say the least. No doubt many of the people, or their spouses or parents, were prominent in their day; see e.g. Jesse Benham, Colonel Thomas Davis, Captain Jeremiah Pierce, Aaron Burr Reeve, Judge John Stoughton.
