A Virtual Cemetery created by James Ellis

East Tennessee CSA troops

This virtual cemetery will include CSA servicemen who either lived or fought in the East Tennessee portion of the Civil War. This portion of the country was torn apart by strong Union sympathy and a strong feeling of loyalty to the State of Tennessee. The close proximity of the Cumberland Gap meant that Union and Confederate troops and calvary were constantly in the area. Bushwhackers were more of a problem than the warring factions, at times.
