Men of VJ-8 US Navy, WWII

Men who served in Utility Squadron Eight (VJ-8) in the South Pacific during WWII. This unit was involved in some mundane tasks such as ferrying mail and spraying to control malaria, but they also flew target drones by remote control from a control aircraft. Prior to the planned invasion of Japan, they provided target practice for many battleships, destroyers, cruisers, etc. of the Pacific Fleet.
