Prentice Allen, 80, Kelby Court, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 1,2005, at Christian Health Center following a long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Second Baptist Church with the Revs. Dan Ferguson, John R. Christian, James Hazelrigg and Mike Britton officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home, Hopkinsville.
A native of Christian County, he was born June 26, 1924, the son of the late Lee Wardroper and Ruth King Allen. He was a farmer and construction worker and had also worked as a security guard at several local businesses.
He was a member of the Lions Club and the Odd Fellows and was a member and deacon emeritus at Second Baptist Church where he served as head of the welcoming committee.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wetton Allen; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Carolyn (Thomas) Sanford, Anita Louise Ellis, Mrs. Judy Holmes (Larry) Shemwell, all of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Frank Lee Allen, Hopkinsville and the Rev. Randolph Allen of Murray; five grandchildren and four gr-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Vision Fund at Second Baptist Church or to the Chapel Fund at Christian Care Communities.
