Samuel Glenn "SAM" Sims, 51 of Arab, the Ruth Community died Friday, November 2, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Sims was born in the state of Texas, November 5, 1960 the son of Samuel and Edna Earl Pounders. He served in the United States Air Force and has been a resident of the Ruth Community for the past 14 years. He was an air craft mechanic for S.E.S.I. Huntsville (Madison). He and the former Sharon Kay Kimbrell were married 20 February 1997 in the Red Bank, TN, home of his uncle.

He is survived by his wife: Sharon Sims of Arab; a daughter: Kara Cox of Texas, step daughter: April Martin Betterton of Arab; a grandson; his father: Samuel H.D. Sims and step-mother Dinah Hosch; step brothers: Bill Skidmore and Jason Hosch both of Arab; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Monica and David Scott and Peggy Elizabeth and Shawn Martz all of Mississippi; preceded in death by his mother Edna Earl Pounders; a step brother: Wesley H. Hosch.

Funeral service was be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Brother Randy Blakely, officiating. Committal service was 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in Thorsby Cemetery, Thorsby, Alabama in Chilton County. Presiding at the gravesite commital was his uncle, The Rev. John S. Sims. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
