James was born to Joseph and Frances Guyon. He married Lynn Borland in Peoria in January of 1982. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Mark Guyon, Laura Guyon (Patrick Conley), Mike Guyon and Jamie Guyon (Tim Troe); stepdaughter, Jeanna (Peter) Fearon; seven grandchildren, Alecia, Allen, Taylor, Brea, Kylie, Hailey and Meriah; great-grandson, Jaden; and brother, Dennis (Paula) Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jean; and brother, Billy.

James served with the Air National Guard.

He worked as a union bricklayer and later for Dairy Delivery Service, a distributor for Prairie Farms.

He was a stained glass artist. He loved to fish and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Bradley Braves fan.
