Eldon was the son of Walter Daniel and Adeline Rebecca Cofer. His young years were spent were spent growing up in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Eldon graduated from Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon in 1922. It was here he met Emily Cornelia Thompson. They were married on the August 24, 1924, in Corvallis, Benton Co. Oregon.
Three children were born to this couple.

Eldon and Emily made their home on NE 29th Ave, in Portland, OR, until the late 1940's when Eldons work took the family to Berkeley, Calfornia.
He retire from Southern Pacific Railway- Pacific Systems Office Engineer, with 44 years of service in 1965. He and Emily were members of the Northbrae Coummunity Church.
Among his hobbies were gardening, raising orchids and hibicus and other fancy plants, and lawn bowling. In their retirement years Eldon and Emily took many trip around the US.
