Born May 7, 1924 in Lewisburg, W. Va., he was the son of the late Parris Edmond Wood, Sr. and Bessie Beatrice Hurd Wood.
He was a member of the Caldwell Pentecostal Holiness Church, Caldwell, W.Va. He attended Holmes Bible College. He was a member of The Virginia Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He served seven years as a missionary to Africa and twelve years as a missionary field representative.
He was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Mabel Mangrum Wood; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth "Liable" Boykin, Watklnevllle, Ga., Mrs. Paulette Walker, Orlando, Fla.; one son, William Baxter Wood, Franklin Springs, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Kathleen) LaFon, Organ Cave, W.Va., Mrs. Paul (Pauline) Bowden, Zephyrhills, Fla., Mrs. John D. (Geraleen) Talmage, Krugersdorp, South Afiricia; two brothers, Rev. Curtis E. Wood, Dublin, Va., Rev. Sanford E. Wood, Dayton, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held this evening at 7 p.m. at the Franklin Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church, Franklin Spring, Ga. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Pulaski with the Reverends, C.E. Wood, Russell Spence, R.G. Quesenberry, Raymond Potter and B.E. Underwood officiating. Burial will be in the Virginia Conference Cemetery, Dublin. The family wil receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. The body will be taken to the church at 12 noon Thursday .to lie instate until the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to be sent to the Cape Town Bible School Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1086, Dublin, Va., 24084. The family will be meeting at the home of the brother, the Rev. and Mrs. C.E. Wood, 16 Jewell Avenue, Dublin. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements.
