Mr. Marvin Edward Hoddel, age 78, of Redgranite, formerly of Fox Lake, died peacefully Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Fond du Lac, following a brief illness. He was born March 14, 1929 on the family farm in the Town of Leon, near Redgranite. He was the son of Edward and Margaret Gaylord Hoddel. Marv married Winifred Ann James on March 17, 1948 in Asheville, North Caroline. Winifred preceded Marvin in death November 12, 1999 after 51 years of marriage. Marv had been employed as a machine operator at Continental-Columbus Metal Fabricating in Columbus, Wi until his retirement in 1991. He then worked at Mike's Auto in Juneau for a time. He returned to Redgranite in 1997.
Marv greatly enjoyed woodworking. He made many Intarsia (intricate wood design) pieces. He loved gardening, fishing and riding his moped. Most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include his children, Beverly(friend Roger Puls) Uttech of Fond du Lac, Robin (Kathy) Hoddel of St. Peters, and Paul (Bonnie) Hoddel of Waupun; 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Marv in also survived by a sister-in-law Charlotte (Dennis) Juliar of Seymour, a brother-in-law Fay (Lori) James of Fond du Lac, other relatives and near and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Winifred, his parents, Edward and Margaret Hoddel, brother Ervin, sister, Irene Lungwitz, brother-in-law, William Lungwitz, sister-in-law, Marion Hoddel and 2 grandchildren, Matthew Hoddel and Rachel Hoddel.
