Died suddenly Friday evening. Mr. Burgess was born August 12, 1929 in Kalamazoo, the son of Raymond and Martha Hallam Burgess. He had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was presently employed as a truck driver for the Morren Poultry Co. On December 19, 1946 he was married to Lila Hodgman, who survives. Also surviving are 1 son and daughter-in-law, Arthur Jr. and Jalaine of Vicksburg; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Bruce Webster of Scotts; Sheila and Mike Garrett of Vicksburg; Mary and Tim Hippen of Mendon; Judy and Bob Stoughton of Otsego; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Burgess of Vicksburg; a brother, Richard also of Vicksburg; 1 sister, Mrs. Arvel (Donna) Ladyman of Elsinore, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Indian Lake Association and Local No. 7 of the Teamsters. Friends may call at the Rupert - Durham Funeral Vicksburg, Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 and Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, where services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Jerry Tallman, Evangelist of the Church of Christ of Plainwell, officiating. Interment Vicksburg Cemetery. Family suggest memorials may be made to the Franklin Community Hospital.

Arthur loved his family, wife, children and grandchildren. He and his wife Lila bought a small cottage on North side of Indian Lake and re-built it into a home. He loved fishing and would often go Up North (Interlochen) deer hunting where some family resided. He also loved the North County.
