Rolland Osmond Butler, 85, died on Saturday, December 13, 2008. Born in Fairfax, Vermont, he grew up in Joliet, IL.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II and graduated from Purdue University. Rolly worked as a Chemical Engineer and Engineering Manager with Dupont in Niagara Falls, NY and Wilmington, DE until his retirement in 1984. As an avid fisherman and boater, he enjoyed time at the family Island near San Souci, Ontario, Canada. In retirement, he lived at Carolina Trace, NC for nine years and in Melbourne, FL for 15 years where he enjoyed golf, travel, personal computing, reading and history.

He will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean; daughters, Kathleen (Scot) Treadwell of Charlotte, NC, Rachel Butler of Norristown, PA; sons, Raymond Butler of New Castle, DE and Scott (Eileen) Butler of Elkton, MD; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A family remembrance and scattering of ashes will take place in the future. No service will be held. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
