To this union were born Faye Isabelle 1903-1994, Florence A. Kem 1907-1908 and Esther Gertrude 1910-1999.

1941 husband, Albert died.

Mar 1946 Ethel married Charles Leander Gifford in Azalia, Bartholomew County, Indiana. 1960 Charles broke hip and died.

18 Jun 1971 Ethel died of cardiovascular disease.Was buried next to her 1st husband, Albert in Willow Grove.

Ethel worked as seamstress in Bartel's Dept. in Richmond, Indiana.. She sewed and quilted at home. Her "job" at family gatherings was to stir the gravy. An avid reader and loved wrestling on TV.

Was Quaker, but read Christian Science material in her later life. She was 8th cousin, 1 removed of African-American Booker T. Washington.
