Born in Boston, Mr. Hannaway was a graduate of St. Gregory's School, Boston College High School, Boston College and Harvard Law School. He also attended Boston University.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
After the war, Mr. Hannaway was an assistant district attorney in Suffolk County and later worked as the assistant clerk magistrate for Suffolk Superior Court in Boston for many years.
He was a member of the Harvard Club.
Mr. Hannaway is survived by his aunt, Celeste Walsh of Stoughton; an uncle, Harold W. of Stoughton; and four cousins.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. tomorrow at St. James Church, Stoughton.
Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
