MADGE PAULINE LOCKHART RAMEY
MADGE PAULINE LOCKHART RAMEY 79 years of age of Big Rock, VA went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA following an extended illness. Born October 18, 1925 she was the daughter of the late T. J. Lockhart and Rose Belle Wolford Lockhart. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, of the Christian Faith, Owner/Operator of Ramey?s Grocery for over 40 years, loved helping people, loving mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wilson Ramey; one son: Jackie Dean Scalf; two brothers: Edgar Lee Lockhart and Reverend Clyde Lockhart.

She is survived by seven daughters: Loretta Skeens and husband Delph, Barbara Fraley and husband Edsel all of Big Rock, VA, Levon Sawyers and husband Danny of Conaway, VA, Patricia Fletcher and husband Donnie of Grundy, VA, Leotta Hensley and husband Larry of Stafford, VA, Vivian Carol Ramey of Locust Grove, VA, Kathy Diane Lowe-Smith and husband Victor of Murphy, NC; three sons: Jimmie Wilson Ramey and wife Carol of Cecil, OH, Douglas Lowe and wife Tresh, Kirk ?Tony? Lowe and wife Lucinda all of Big Rock, VA; six sisters: Reatha Looney of Grundy, VA, Jeanette Flemming of Mouthcard, KY, Lois Fraley of Big Rock, VA, Lorraine Arnold of TN, June Dotson of Grundy, VA and Ruby Phillips of Mich. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Madge Pauline Lockhart Ramey will be held Saturday, November 20, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, VA with Evangelist Willard Owens and Reverend Larry Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ramey Cemetery at Conaway, VA.

Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sammy Cantrell, Thurl Chafins, Dr. Steven Hill, Dr. F. Ballenger.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. Friday evening. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m.
