ERMEL LYNTON HUNT, SR. 91 years of age of Vansant, VA passed away Monday, November 22, 2004 at Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy, VA. Born in Pike County, Kentucky March 31, 1913, he was the son of the late Jerry M. Hunt and Carrie Whitt Hunt. He was a retired Coal Miner from Island Creek Coal Corp., member of the UMWA, and charter member of the Justiceville Bible Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon, Elder and Treasurer. For his and his wife?s many years of service and dedication to the church, the church parsonage was named Hunt?s Haven.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: John P. Hunt, Victor Hunt and James Hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Ama Lee Elliot Hunt of Vansant, VA; two daughters: Priscilla Gaye Blair and husband Roy of Morehead, KY, Rebecca Lynne Caudill and husband Earnie of Vansant, VA; one son: Ermel Lynton Hunt, Jr. of Vansant, VA; one brother: Orie Virgil Hunt of Mouthcard, KY; six grandchildren: Laura Lee Landrum and husband Jerry of Gainesville, VA, Ermel Lynton Hunt, III of Raven, VA, Priscilla Paige Taylor and husband Rob of Morehead, KY, Amy Elizabeth Haynes of Gainesville, VA, Nathan Caudill and Courtni Caudill both of Richlands, VA; three great-grandsons: Austin Landrum, Shane Taylor and J. Brian Landrum, II.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services for Ermel Lynton Hunt, Sr. will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Justiceville Bible Baptist Church, Justiceville, KY with Reverend Ernie Justice officiating. Entombment will follow in the Annie Young Cemetery in Chloe Creek, Pikevillle, KY.
Active Pallbearers will be Rob Taylor, Nathan Caudill, Wes Ratliff, Richard Charles, Rick Ellis and Josh Lindsey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ermel L.
