Bernice Neeley McKnight Bernice entered into eternal life on October 17, 2012, in her home, after battling cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family in death as she was in life. Bernie was born in Carson Iowa on January 11, 1930. She was the youngest daughter of Virgil and Myrtle Spohn. At the age of 6 her family moved to Shafter, California, there Bernie grew up, married and had two beautiful daughters. She moved to Bakersfield in 1982 where she resided with her husband Bob for her final days. Bernie will be joining her mom, dad and her two sisters Elaine and Darlene. Bernie leaves behind her brother, Dale Spohn (Lula), husband Bob McKnight, daughter Linda Torigiani (Ron), daughter Brinda Shellenberger (Mike), grandchildren Ryan Torigiani (Alaina), Bree Bogacki (Ivan), Scott Torigiani, Marla Elholm (Kirk), Brad Kloppel and eight great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church. Msgr. Steven Frost will officiate and inurnment will be private at Shafter Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to CASA of Kern County, 2000 24th Street, Bakersfield, CA. 93301, in the memory of Bernice Neeley McKnight. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a Memory no one can Steal.
