Paula Brumund Dies Here at 15.

Paula Lynn Brumund, age 15, daughter of Paul and Carolyn (nee Page) Brumund, died early Friday morning, March 24, 1967 at her home, 1605 Mayfield Avenue, Joliet.

Paula was freshman queen at Joliet West High School in 1965.

She had been ailing since 1964 but had resumed her studies at Joliet West. Paula was a cancer victim.

Born in Joliet, she attended Pershing and Hufford Schools before entering Joliet West. Paula made friends easily and was popular with her classmates.

Her father, Paul F. Brumund, is an attorney who serves as Corporation Counsel for the City of Joliet. He is a member of the firm of Robson, Masters, Brumund, Ryan and Belom.

When Paula's illness was diagnosed in 1964, he was a Republican candidate for the state's attorney's nomination. He withdrew from the race because of her illness and because of wanting to spend more time with her.

Other survivors include three brothers, Robert, 22; Thomas, 20 and James, 18, all of Joliet and all college students. Also surviving are two grandmothers, Esther Otto of Wheaton and Grace Brummund of Joliet and her grandfather, Ray Page of Chicago Heights.

Visitation: Blood and Grant Funeral Home. Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, 805 Western Avenue, Joliet.

The Reverend Robert W. Gibson, Jr. officiated.

Interment: Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery.
