In 1897, the company name was changed to Charles R. Reifel & Sons Ice House. By 1910 Charles and two sons, Walter and Charles Joseph were still owners. By 1938, the name was changed to Galveston Ice & Cold Storage at 109 20th Street.
As his siblings moved to other towns, Walter was the only son who stayed in the business. His cildren and grandchildren would continue to the family business.
Walter was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Galveston. Texas in 1868 as Walter Raphael Reynolds but middle name was later changed to Reynolds. He is listed as a carpenter living with his father on Ave. R & 34th St. corner in Galveston in the city directories for 1878-1879 and 1890-1891.
Walter was married to Margaret "Maggie" M. Bullacher (1870-1950) on 4th of Decemeber 1889, they lived with his parents after the marriage. By 1898, they are living at another address on Ave. R and working for the family business which was under a new name, Texas Ice and Cold Storage, as a driver. 1901-1903 he lived at 3809 Broadway. By 1920 he is living on Ave. M, they had a live in servant names James Beaumont who was 23 in the 1920 census. They MAY have had another son, Reynolds Reifel who was born in 1898.
