JANESVILLE – Hazel J. Chesemore, age 89, of Platteville, formerly of Janesville and Eagle River, died Wed., Aug. 16, 1995, at Lancaster Memorial Hospital. She was born in Allens Grove, WI, Sept. 30, 1905, the daughter of William and Anna (Knott) Rodawalt. She married Kenneth P. Chesemore Sept. 23, 1925 at Janesville; he died Sept. 26, 1978. She graduated from Clinton High School, was a member of the First Congregational Church UCC of Eagle River, former member of Emerald Grove Church UCC, and La Prairie Homemakers Club. She and her husband farmed in La Prairie Township for 30 years and then owned resorts in the Eagle River area for 20 years, retiring in 1978.
Surviving are 3 sons: Gerald (Jerolynn) Chesemore of Platteville, David (Marion) Chesemore of Fresno, CA, and James (Mary) Chesemore of Maple Grove, MN; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Merle Rodawalt.
Funeral services will be held Tues., Aug. 22, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. at Overton Funeral Home, with Rev. John W. Eyster officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Overton Funeral Home and join the family at Emerald Grove Church for lunch after the services. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church UCC at P.O. Box 1385, Eagle River, WI 54521.
