He was with his family after a battle with cancer.
Harry was born March 10, 1925 in Wellston, Ohio, to Harry Sr. and Eva (Sams) Aberts. He was a member of Caesarea Baptist Church, Mt. Gilead Senior Citizen Club and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He served during WWII in Germany with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Sylvia Aberts of Columbus, Randy and Deb Aberts of Mansfield; a daughter, Marsha Thompson of Mansfield; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Doris Aberts of Mass. and Melvin and Paulette Aberts of Alabama; special companion, Miriam Izer; lifetime friends, Sam and Nita Collins; special home health aide, Robert Beatty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Arlene; his parents; a son, Roger A. Aberts; three brothers, Harold, Carl, and Leonard; and sister, Anna Downard.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, January 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Mike Workman and Pastor Albert Page. Military graveside services conducted by Richland County Joint Veteran's Council will follow in Caesarea Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
