SPARTA, TN. — Robert W. Nusbaum, 89, of Sparta, and formerly of Elkhart, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 at his daughter’s home.

Robert was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Three Rivers, MI., to Wayne Woodford and Helen Marie (Slaughter) Nusbaum. On June 24, 1962, he married Naomi J. Phillips. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1985. He later married Dolores Bohman on Feb. 20, 1993. She preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2015.

Robert is survived by a daughter, Debrah (John) Lukes, Sparta; son Steven Nusbaum of Elkhart; step-daughters, Jean (Ron) Manz of New Berlin, WI., Diane (Garry) Thompson of LaPorte and Lynn Jones, West Covina, CA.; step-son, Mark (Diane) Serath, Sussex, WI.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Richard and Jerry Nusbaum of California.

Robert proudly served in the Navy. He was a member of the Mishawaka Pilots Club.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the noon memorial service, Wednesday at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
