"Frankly, I'm Frank"

Theodore Frank Nelson, 85, unexpectedly passed away peacefully Saturday, November 6, 2004.

He was born March 14, 1919 to Frederic Wilbur and Adelia Bird Nelson in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Granite High School and also from West High Trade School. He married his high school sweetheart, Ila June Mines, in the Salt Lake Temple on January 9, 1942. They are the proud parents of four wonderful children, 21 precious grandchildren and eight dear great-grandchildren.

He was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His many church callings were: 13 years as a Salt Lake Temple ordinance worker, High Councilor, counselor in two bishoprics, 14 years as an Explorer Scout leader (one of his proudest accomplishments), High Priests' group leader and faithful home teacher. He served as a Stake missionary three different times. He also served in the Stake mission presidency. He and Ila served as missionaries in the Granite Park Stake. He always took every opportunity to share the gospel with others.

Frank served in World War II as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Air Force in the South Pacific as a bombardier. He enjoyed his Air Force buddies and their many reunions over the years. He worked as a printer, jeweler, and gem cutter. For 37 years he owned his own printing business, Gem Printing Company. He and Ila and their family worked together in the business. He had many friends and associates from his business. He also spent much of his time working to improve the community around him. He was a friend to everyone he met.

His many hobbies included: golfing, oil painting, photography, gem cutting, rock collecting, jewelry making, genealogy, and fishing.

His most cherished blessing was his family. He loved each one and was so proud of them.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Rosecrest 1st Ward Chapel, 3101 South 2300 East. Friends and family may call on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and Saturday at the church prior to the services from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment at the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
