He enlisted in the Marines 4 November 1968.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 1 May 1969,he was assigned to Golf Company,2nd Battalion,3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
David was killed by incoming 82MM mortar fire during an engagement with enemy forces,9 kilometers Northwest of Cam Lo Village,during Operation Virginia Ridge.
David was single.He had been in Vietnam for 1 month and 17 days.
