Finest Hugo Austin of Route 2, Box 9 (833 Golddust Trail) Rustburg, departed this life Friday, Nov. 13, 1998 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Appomattox Sept. 14, 1940, he was the son of the late Beatrice and Erman Austin Sr. He attended the public schools in Appomattox County. He joined Jordan Baptist Church at early age. Before his illness, he worked for Lawhorne Brothers. He was preceded in death by a brother, Erma Austin Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted companion, Virginia Culpepper of Appomattox; a son, Clarence Abbitt of Lynchburg; five grandchildren; a brother, Francis Austin of Lynchburg; a sister, Dorothy Austin of Appomattox; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Crater Austin and Nannie Austin and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Jordan Baptist Church in Appomattox with Dr. Curtis Elliott officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. His remains will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the church. Community Funeral Home directing.
