Syble was born March 10, 1916, in Peach, Texas to the late Lucious and Maude Ayers. She lived 96 full years and was the youngest of nine children. Her siblings, Luther Marshall, C.L., Lela, Ruby, Jim Ethel and Esther have all preceded her in death. As a child, Syble lived all over Texas in towns such as, Perryville, Breckenridge, Spur, Brownfield and Midland. Syble met the love of her life, Grover "Doug" Porter in Midland and were married June 22, 1931 and had 51 wonderful years until his death in 1982. Syble and Doug were a farming family and worked farms all throughout Texas. They both shared a love of God and were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses in 1939. The family moved to California in 1946, where they continued working farms. Doug was a "music man" so Syble learned to play the stand-up bass fiddle and joined the family's country and western band which proved to be a joyful profession. In 1970, they moved back to Texas and settled in Abilene. They joined the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and Syble faithfully shared her love of God with all until the time of her death.
Syble was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Porter; three of their children, Robert "Bob" Porter, Naomi "Ruth" Fairfield and Thomas "Tom" Porter; her grandson, Frank Perry; and her great-granddaughter, Brandy Norman-Ramos.
Syble is survived by 11grandchildren and their spouses, Bob's children, Floyd and Kathy Porter, Yvonne and Rick LaBrenz and Denise and Paul Reeder; Ruth's children, Debbie and Larry Norman, Linda and Rocky Ferguson, Pamela LaBrenz and Robert Fairfield, Jr.; and Tom's children, Tom Porter, Jr., John Porter, David Porter and Kelly Porter; 28 great grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren and one niece, Mary Lou Elliott.
She was much loved and will be sorely missed by all.
