Melton Millard Abbott, 73, of 2616 Edgewood Avenue, a retired Ft. Jackson motor pool employee, died Thursday at the Veterans Hospital.
Mr. Abbott was born in Salley, the son of the late Sasan and Levi Abbott. He had been a resident of Columbia most of his life and was a member of Central Baptist Mission and a veteran of World I.
Surviving is his widow, Mrs. Anna Shehan Abbott; one son Ernest Abbott of Prosperity, three brothers H. B. Abbott Sr., of Columbia, Jesse Abbott Sr., of Blackville, and Billy Abbott of Cayce.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel is in charge.
