The daughter of Johannes H. Riessen and Luise Clausen, Frieda married Otto William Kunze on 15 Dec 1918 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Crawford County, Iowa. He was a farmer.

They were the parents of 3 children before their marriage ended.

Otto later remarried. He died in 1963.

Children from first marriage: 2 daughters, 1 son.

Freida married Charles H. "Charlie" Mennerick on 29 Sep 1930 in Carroll, Carroll County, Iowa. They were the parents of 5 children--all boys.

The Mennericks lived in Iowa before moving to Jerseyville, Jersey County, Illinois around 1941. In 1946, they moved to Wood River in Madison County, Illinois.

Frieda was a homemaker. Charlie worked for the Alton Box Board Company in Madison County for 9 years.

He was hospitalized in September of 1949 and spent a number of weeks in Wood River Township Hospital and in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Charlie died on 30 Jun 1950 at the age of 51.

Children from second marriage: 5 sons.

Frieda was a widow for more than 41 years. As her health eventually declined, she became a resident at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, Illinois. She died there at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 10 days.

She was survived by 1 daughter, Unabelle Buller of St. Charles, Illinois; 5 sons, Charles Mennerick of Mesa, Arizona, Reginald Mennerick of Sikeston, Missouri, John Mennerick of Cedar Hills, Texas, Reverend James Mennerick of Jasper, Indiana, and Dr. Lewis Mennerick of Lawrence, Kansas; a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and 4 sisters, Irene Huelsman of Charter Oak, Iowa, Rosa Christianson of Dennison, Iowa, Helen Ausburger of Jefferson, Iowa, and Gertrude Rush of Des Moines, Iowa.

In addition to her mother and father, Frieda was preceded in death by 1 son, Donald Kunze; 1 daughter, Lavera Davis; 3 brothers, John Riessen, Herbert Riessen and Irvin Riessen; and 5 sisters, Edna Riessen, Alvena Riessen, Annie Riessen, Ella Riessen and Hilda Rouze.

Visitation was held on 04 Oct 1991 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted there at 11 a.m. the following morning. Frieda was buried next to her husband, Charlie.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to St. John's United Church of Christ in Wood River or to Hitz Memorial Home.
