She was a member of the Wanda Methodist Church in Wanda. She was a Sunday school teacher and member of the church's Aid Society. She also belonged to Ivy Camp No. 2091 in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Pearl died at her home in Chouteau Township, Madison County, Illinois at the age of 30 years, 11 months and 11 days. She had been ill for 12 years, but her condition had grown more serious in the days leading up to her death. Remarkably, she had been able to attend a ladies' meeting at the church earlier in the day before she passed away late in the evening on 15 Nov 1928.
Pearl was survived by her husband, Ben; her mother and father; and 2 young daughters, Dorothy, who was 13-years-old, and Myrtle, who was 11.
Funeral services were conducted at the Puhse home at 1:30 p.m. on 18 Nov 1928. Religious services then took place at the Wanda Methodist Church at 2 p.m. that afternoon. It was reported that the crowd was so large, the church was not able to accommodate everyone who came to pay their respects.
At the conclusion of services by the church minister, the ladies of the Royal Neighbor Camp held a memorial tribute. Pearl was buried on 18 Nov 1928.
Ben died in 1954 and was buried next to her.
