BURNS, Shirley H.
Shirley was born in Norton, Virginia in 1923. She was the mother of 12 children, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren with yet another great-grandchild on the way. Shirley passed away on March 11, 2010. She was preceded in death by her dearest husband of 50 years, William J. Burns, and her beloved son, Joseph. She is survived by eight daughters, Shirley Shaw (J.R.), Ellen Kozlowski, Bernadette Grabb (Ray), JeanAnne Burns, Kathleen Burns, Mary Davis (David), Patricia Burns, Regina Switzer (Shane), three sons, William, Patrick (Cori), Michael; sister Ellen Moore (James) and brother James Greer. Shirley enjoyed being referred to as ''Mrs. William J. Burns'' and loved her husband dearly. She always doted on her family and desired nothing more than to have them around her. She was honored as the Catholic Mother of the Year in 1962. Family and friends are invited to honor our mother at a vigil to be held on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, 4325 Don Julio Boulevard, North Highlands. The Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, March 15, 2010, at 8:30 a.m. also at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements provided by Lombard & Co.
