Helena earned her doctorate in chemical pathology from the University of London, England. Helena was a Pioneer in DNA Research. It was her work in the field that helped catch the man who assaulted her in 1984 and returned to murdered her in 1985. Saved items from her death became the witness. Blood samples matched to 1 in 23 billion, convicting her killer David Paul Frediani in 2001. Helena was cremated in the United States and her ashes placed here next to her mother.

Roger remarried after many years, moved back to the Bay Area and died of cancer in his early fifties July of 1999, 52 years old.

Ms Greenwood had moved to the United States in 1977 with her husband, Roger Franklin, having graduated from Sheffield University and completed her doctorate in biochemistry at the University of London.
The couple spent a year travelling across the US in a camper van and then settled in Atherton in Silicon Valley - the area where she worked as a research analyst specializing in DNA.
Helena's husband Roger Franklin died in Del Mar (SanDiego) 6 months before David Frediani a financial analyst from San Francisco, was arrested in 1999 for the murder.
