Rev. Homer F. Titus, 86, former district superintendent of Troy Methodist Conference, died yesterday in Mineville Hospital after a short illness. Since his retirement in 1944 he had lived at Moriah Center and Port Henry.

Mr. Titus was a former pastor of the old Hedding Methodist Church here. He served at Hedding from 1917 to 1920. He returned to Troy in 1927 and 1928 as district superintendent of the Troy District, Troy Methodist Conference.

A native of upstate New York, he was ordained as a deacon of the Methodist Church in 1898 and a pastor in 1900. He was active in the ministry for 44 years.

His first pastorate was at Clintonville. In 1901 he went to the Crown Point Methodist Church, in 1905 to the Peru Methodist Church and in 1911 to Warrensburg.

He was pastor at Keeseville from 1912 until he was assigned to Hedding Methodist here. In 1921 he became pastor of the First Methodist Church in Albany and in 1923-24 was superintendent of the Northern District of Troy Methodist Conference. In 1924 he became superintendent of the Central District and in 1927 of the Troy District.

In 1929 he became pastor at Rutland, Vt., and in 1931 returned to this area as pastor of the Eastern Parkway Methodist Church of Schenectady. He served the Port Henry and Moriah churches from 1934 to 1938 when he became secretary of the Board of Stewards until his retirement.
