Melvin Elwood McCoy, 66, of Denver, R.D. 1, Lancaster County, was dead on arrival Friday morning in Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Clarence E. and Emma (Weaver) McCoy.

He had been employed as a sole cutter for more than 35 years by the Miller-Hess Shoe Co., Akron, before retiring in 1981.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a past commander of Cocalico Post 3376, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ephrata.

Surviving are a son, Melvin T. of Denver, R.D. 1, and two daughters: June M., wife of Robert L. Hironimus, Sinking Spring, and Kathy J., wife of Brain K. Gustafson, Macungie R.D. 2.

A grandson and three sisters: Minnie M., wife of Morris Eckert, Lititz R.D. 1; Mabel V. Heitz, Ephrata R.D. 1; and Anna M., wife of Titus Weber, Ephrata.

Also four brothers: Titus W. of Lititz R.D.1, Irvin M. of Lancaster, Lester J. of Brownstown and Raymond C. of Ephrata.

The Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata, is in charge of arrangements.
