Dr. Sanford Emmett Ayers of Winter Garden, Florida died on October 25, 1968 at St. Luke's Hospital, Houston, Texas.

He was born on December 19, 1899 at Anniston, Calhoun County
Alabama, a son of Thomas Wilburn Ayers and Willie Mindora Skelton Ayers.

He married Winnie Davis Bennett in 1921. She survived his death. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a daughter Virginia and a son Thomas William Ayers.

Dr. Ayers served in the U.S. Navy as a Commmander in both World War I and World War II. He also was a missionary in China with the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and five brothers.

Survivors include besides his wife, a son and daughter; and two sisters, Lucy Pitman and Mary Lee Gannon.
