Hugh Morgan came, at an early age, with his parents, from Carroll, Iowa. They moved to a farm southwest of Loomis. In 1916, Hugh married Eleanor Bowar from Dimock. Their first home was a farm west of Loomis. In 1920 they moved to a farm south of Letcher where they resided until 1946 when they moved to Mitchell.

Hugh and Eleanor Morgan had two daughters, Phylis, born in 1918 and Dorothy, born in 1925. Both girls attended the Comstock School and then graduated from Letcher High School.

John Heuni was Hugh's hired hand for many years, using mules to do the farm work.

Hugh Morgan passed away in 1948, his wife Eleanor died in 1974.
