MAIDEN, N.C. and OTIS — James S. Collinsworth, 70, of Maiden, N.C., and Beech Hill Pond, Otis died Nov. 1, 2012, after a sudden illness. He was born Jan. 14, 1942, to Cletta B. and James L. Collinsworth in Paradise Township, Ill.


Jim attended Stephen Decatur High School, Millikin University, and joined the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from IBM after 25 years as an instructor. He was a history buff, an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Reno Air Races and Acadia National Park.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather Collinsworth, of Charlotte, N.C.; his former wife, Vicki Smith Baynes; his brother, Richard Collinsworth; his sisters, Linda Collinsworth and Betty McDonald; several nieces and nephews, his Maine family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Cletta Dick; his stepfather, Curtis Dick; and his father, James.

A military honors service will be held noon Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Pentecostal Lighthouse, 1184 State Highway 102, Town Hill, with interment at the Hillside Cemetery, Hulls Cove.
