ADKISSON, Thomas HAMILTON
Private, Company “E” 38th Alabama Infantry Regiment
buried Old Dublin Memorial Park Erath County Texas.
T.H. Adkisson, of Dublin, TX, was born Feb. 8,1842 near Hawkinsville, Pulaski Co., GA. He enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1862, as a private in Co. "E", 38th AL Infantry, Holtzclaw's Brigade, Clayton's Division, Hood's Corps, Army of Tennessee. "We were changed first to Mobile, remained there about twelve months, then to the Tennessee Army. The change was made on account of Tennessee needing men. Was wounded in the leg at Missionary Ridge. Was also wounded at Jonesboro on Aug. 31, 1864 in the left arm. I was taken prisoner twice, but got away on the grounds that I did not want to go north, and took chances on running. The yankees shot my hat off, but I got away just the same. I was in the battles of Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge, Chickamauga, New Hope Church, Atlanta, and Jonesboro."

Thomas Hamilton Adkisson married Nancy Ardella Hodo. They had seven children: W.T., Susan, Nancy (married James Hartwell Smith) Sarah (married William Henry Smith) James H., Emma and Frank Adkisson (information courtesy Barbara Howard Pointer)
