A log cabin recluse died in a fire early Sunday morning along Parkhall Rd. east of Rohrersville, State Police, reported Monday.
Police said they found the body of OSCAR WELTY REEDER, 50, in the debris. The tiny log cabin was destroyed by the blaze.
Investigation revealed the fire began from a malfunction in the stove. Reeder was produced dead by Medical Examiner E. W. Ditto III.
THe fire was discovered by a neighbor who came home late Saturday night from the Mummers Parde.
Sharpsburg and Boonsboro fire companies responded to the alarm.
Reeder was born at Parkhall and was the son of Charles and Fannie Poffenberger Reeder. He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Locust Grove.
He is survived by sisters, Mrs. Elmer Smith of Middletown, and Mrs. Ira Houpt of Boonsboro Rt.2 and a brother, Ray E., of Boonsboro, Rt.2.
Services will be held at the Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro today at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Harry Angle officiating. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
