Elbert "Al" Lipps, 72, of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at home.
He was born July 1, 1940 in Manchester, KY to Tom and Louella (Gray) Lipps.
Al graduated from Clay County Schools and had been a crane operator with Metal Manufacturing in Hammond. He was a member of Old Pathway Baptist Church and he loved basketball, working outside, visiting with neighbors and playing with his grandchildren.
In 1963 in Manchester, KY he married Sonia Cheek, who survives, along with two sons, Larry Wayne Lipps of Valparaiso and William Allen (Rebecca) Lipps of Knox, IN; four grandchildren: Katelyn Danielle Lipps, Zachary Michael Lipps, and Trevor James and Mason David Arlington; two brothers, Rob Lipps of Arkansas and Estill Lipps of Byron, IL; and one sister, Martha Lipps of Wanatah, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Dorothy Lipps, Hazel Bray and May Collins; and three brothers: JD, TJ, and Sammy Lipps.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 8, 4-8 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso, where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ronnie Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery.
