Hazel Susan Rasmussen, age ninety-nine
years, three months and two days passed
away Saturday, November 26, 1988 at the
Frankfort Community Care Home in
Frankfort, Kansas.
She was born August 24, 1889, near Washta,
Iowa, the daughter of Norris and
Viola Mills.
In 1891 the family moved to Randolph,
Nebraska and then on to Springfield,
Missouri in 1894. In 1896, when she was
seven years of age, she remembered moving
by covered wagon to Bigelow, Kansas.
She attended school and church in the
Springdale community near Cleburne,
Kansas, where she served as a church
organist. She attended the Irving, Kansas
high school.
On February 12, 1912 she married
Ernest Otho Rasmussen. They lived near
Irving until 1916, when they moved to Ordway,
Colorado and homesteaded land
there. They returned to Springdale comm-
Unity in 1919, where they resided until
moving to a farm near Vliets, Kansas in
1930. They lived there and in Vliets since
that time.
Mrs. Rasmussen enjoyed her home, family
and working in the garden and with her
flowers. She crocheted many articles during
later years, crocheting lace edgings
On linen handkerchiefs for all of her
granddaughters weddings.
She belonged to several community clubs
during her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her husband
one son, two brothers, one sister and a
great-great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Rasmussen is survived by two sons,
Wayne of Corpus Christi, Texas and
Lauretz of rural Frankfort, Kansas; nine
Grandchildren, fourteen great-grand-children,
two step great-grandchildren, two
step-great-grandchildren and one great-
great-granddaughter.
Memorial services were held at the Padden
Funeral Chapel in Frankfor with the
Reverend John Burgreen officiating.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Douglas
Rasmussen, Manhattan, Kansas; Marvin
Rasmussen, Austin, Texas; Ronald
Rasemussen, Eden Prairie, Minnesota;
Kent Rasmussen, Overland Park, Kansas;
Larry Rasmussen, Peoria, Illinois and
James Rasmussen, Huntsville, Alabama.

Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery
