Herman A. Anderson, in his 96th year, died at his home on Feb. 20. Mr. Anderson, who was a former chief of the Bayside Exempt Firemen's Association, was one of the oldest Bayside residents. In addition to being a builder for many years and having built many of the oldest homes in Bayside, Mr. Anderson had engaged in the florist business in Bayside for 20 years. His hobby was prize dahlias which he grew. He was a member of the Royal Arcanum, the Bayside Masonic Lodge No. 999 F & AM, All Saints Episcopal Church and a former member of the Lions Club.
Masonic service was held at the Lloyd Home, 214-43 39th Ave., Bayside on Thursday at 8:30 PM, by Bayside Lodge. The funeral will be on Friday, Feb. 23, at 10 AM in All Saints Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Elmer D. Horstmann, rector, officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Churchyard Cemetery, Douglaston.
Mr. Anderson, husband of the late Elizabeth, is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Hazel C. Gilmore, Herman G. Anderson, Jr. and Clarence H. Anderson. He is also survived by 2 grandsons and three great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Anderson, 531 Highland street north, married 50 years ago last week, were guests of honor at a picnic held at the recreation pier. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, who have been coming to St. Petersburg for 12 years and who own a home here, were married Jan. 20, 1892, in Zion Episcopal church, Douglastown, Long Island, N. Y., the same church in which Mrs. Anderson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Griffin, had been married. Three of five children are still living. They are Mrs. Jack (Hazel) Gilmore, Bayside, Long Island, N. Y.; Clarence H. Anderson, Duxbury, Mass.; and Herman Anderson, St. Petersburg. There is one grandchild, Robert Louis Gilmore.
The Andersons have occupied one home at Bayside, Long Island, since their marriage. Guests at the picnic, representing nine states and Canada, presented the celebrants with a gold tea set.
