William was from the Thompson Station community. In 1934 he married Frances Anderson. He was born in Obion county but his family returned to the farm which had been in the Gibbs family since 1810. He was a lawyer with the IRS. He and his family lived in Memphis and St. Louis. They were in Paducah, KY when he died in 1942. They have w daughters Evaline and Caroline.
