Leone E. Ball, 83, of Colebrook, NH, passed away at the Coös County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown on Wednesday, July 19, 2006, after a period of failing health. Mrs. Ball was born April 4, 1923, in Colebrook, the daughter of the late Raymond and Esther (Fuller) Sweatt. She attended school in Colebrook. For many years, she lived with her husband, Clayton Ball, on North Haven Island off the coast of Maine. After her husband's death in 1960, Mrs. Ball went to work as a live-in housekeeper with a family in Concord, MA. She made her home in Concord for 22 years working for several different families during that period. In 1982, she moved to Sharon, MA, and worked for Henry Kendell, the 1990 Nobel Laureate for Physics. She remained in his employ until 1994 when she retired and moved back to Colebrook. Mrs. Ball is a former member of the Pythian Sisters of North Haven Island, Maine. Mrs. Ball is survived by one son, Michael K. Ball of Bellingham, MA; two grandchildren, Matthew R. Ball of Bellingham, MA, and Rachel Briana Ball of Murchison, New Zealand; two sisters, Roberta Clark of East Bridgewater, MA, and Barbara Day of Colebrook; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
