John David Thul, 67, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at home. Born in Summit to the late Joseph and Faith Thul, he was a life-long resident of Middlesex. Dave was a 1964 graduate of Middlesex High School before proudly serving 26 years in the United States Navy. Dave was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and a member of its Knights of Columbus Council 12700 and served the community of Middlesex as a very active member of H. C. He was a very active member of the Middlesex Fire Police, a life member of the Middlesex Elks Lodge 1488, the American Legion Post #306.
Among his memberships, Dave was very active with the annual Somerset County 4-H Fair and was a very kind hearted, loving and giving person. He enjoyed attending the annual Fireman's and Elk's convention at Wildwood with all his loving and caring friends. He also cherished his time spent helping others, shopping with Tina and looking forward to Friday night get-togethers at the "Burd's Nest" with his extended family. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and all who knew him.
Surviving are his loving extended family, Doug and Tina Buro and their son Joseph, Ken and Chris Burd, Jim and Lynn Rinker, all of Middlesex and Glenn and Lisa Scarponi of Somerset, a sister, Debra Mente of Somerville, and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
