Obituary: GEORGETOWN -- Mary Ellen Baxley James, 83, died Sunday, July 21, 1996, at home after an illness.
Born in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Charlie O. Baxley and Bertie Fenters Baxley. She was the widow of John Henry James Jr.

She was a graduate of Union High School, a homemaker and a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Ruth McLaulin of Marietta, Ga., Sandra Mehaffy of Easley, Lillian Chambless of Conway, Sylvia Rogers of Surfside Beach and Valerie May of Murrells Inlet; three brothers, Ervin Tanner and D.L. Tanner, both of Florence, and Minton Tanner of the Rose Hill community of Georgetown County; two sisters, Gussie Jones of Nichols and Faye Wall of Nesmith; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will recieve friends from 7-9 tonight at Morris Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednedsay at Rose Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
