Death of Mrs. Charles Carnes.
Mrs. Charles Carnes of Springdale, Ark., died Wednesday, Jan. 4, in a Monett hospital. She is survived by her husband, Charles Carnes; her mother, Mrs. Maggie Strait of Seneca; two brothers, Clifford and Hugh Strait of Seneca and a foster daughter, Dorothy Carnes.
May Strait was born in Nebraska, but came to Seneca with her parents when a small child and was reared here. She was employed in the printing office here and later in Fairfax, Okla. In 1921 she was married to Charles Carnes and has since lived in Springdale, Ark. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Seneca, Friday afternoon, Jan. 6, conducted by the Rev. Hankins of Springdale, assisted by the Rev. W. E. Hopkins, pastor of the church. The Seneca Men's chorus sang, “Homeland of Heaven,” and, “Jesus, Lover of My Soul.” Robert Bennett sang, “In the Garden.” Pallbearers were Ross Brown, Robert Bennett, Oren Morgan, Orville Main, Jim Wells and Oren Bennett. Burial was in the Seneca cemetery.
